Mijas Pueblo

Europe and Spain

Europe, widely regarded as “post-Christian,” represents a fertile mission field, with a population implosion, immigrant crisis, and increasing Muslim influence. We believe Europe is not lost, but is instead a center of culture and society that will once again be raised for the Glory of God.

Andalucia and the Costa del Sol

We are blessed to be able to base the Leadership Academy in an amazing region–with access to the beach, the mountains, and the best that Spanish culture has to offer! We won’t be sequestered at the school–we are members of the community and friends to our neighbors.

Another interesting aspect of this region is the expatriate community of English-speaking people–which will ensure that we will never get too lost on the way to the market! This region is truly international, with over 100 nationalities represented and many languages spoken–and you will see that as you interact daily with Spaniards, Swedes, Germans, Brits, Dutch, North Africans, and others.

Map of Mijas

Mijas Pueblo

Tucked into the foothills near the Sierra Nieves and Sierra Nevada mountain ranges, and overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, Mijas Pueblo is a beautiful Andalucian “white” village. It provides a perfect location for our base, with easy access to mountains (out our back door!), beaches (15 minutes on bus), Malaga International Airport (AGP) (20 minutes by car/45 minutes by train), and Malaga city centre (1 hour by train).

The village itself is Andalucia personified. With flamenco shows in the town square, bullfights each Sunday, and caf├ęs tucked down picturesque streets, interns and visitors can enjoy the culture of Spain in a relaxed atmosphere.

Need Peace and Quiet?

Interns enjoy the peaceful fountains at the overlook, the Sierra Mijas mountain peak, and early morning jogs to the Chapel of St. Anthony. Enjoy the slower pace of life and enjoy a cafe con leche and people watch…

Need People and Fun?

Mijas has that too: live music in the town square, the village feria, watching and celebrating football matches with the locals… Mijas has its share of noise! And each summer, the influx of tourists means that the streets will be alive until late at night.

The Leadership Academy

Learning: The Academy classrooms and offices are held in El Epicentro, G42′s community centre centrally located near the main square of Mijas Pueblo. We are continuously developing this space into a community centre & cafe that will be open to the public. El Epicentro has a large classroom/multipurpose area, and a lounge/hangout room with free wifi.

Classes run Monday through Thursday, during mornings and afternoons. Friday through Saturday will have opportunities to live out what you have learned during the week, experience the Spanish culture, and enjoy relationships and community.

Living:
Interns will live in dormitory-style rooms with up to 3 other interns in each room. One of our houses is located on Calle San Sebastian. (Calle San Sebastian is professed to be the most photographed street in Southern Spain!) The intern houses are a 5-minute walk to the Epicentro, and are central to the village. Each house has its own kitchen and living room, and rooftop terraces that tend to attract interns for dinners, conversations, and games.

Weather-wise, be prepared for very warm summers and cool and wet winters!

bedroom
Families with children will be required to establish short-term leases in the local village. Leadership Academy staff will arrange for rental properties according to availability, location, and desired number of bedrooms/amenities. Don’t worry, there are plenty of furnished apartments for rent here, with reasonable rates.
